Going to the gym can be a scary prospect, particularly if you have never stepped inside one before or feel out of place in an environment surrounded by fitness fanatics. Here at Fitness Training Solutions, we are dedicated to ensuring our readers that the gym is a place for anyone and everyone! In fact, most of the time a more experienced gym user would be more than happy to show a new face the ropes on their first visit. Here is how to get over your fear of the gym…
- The phrase ‘safety in numbers’ can apply to any situation if you think about it long enough and it’s the same for the gym. Walking into the fitness suite on your own can be daunting- however attending a weekly fitness class will see you make friends and you’ll soon realise that everyone is as worried as each other! Support your new friends and see your fears fade away
- Going to the gym is not a fashion show and should be treated as such. If you are worried that your gym attire does not look like everyone else’s then it will be music to your ears to know that what you wear doesn’t matter, within reason. Of course, turning up in jeans isn’t going to do you any favours and many gyms don’t even allow this however just because the regulars are dressed head to toe in Lycra doesn’t mean they will burn any more extra calories. Be comfortable in what you’re wearing.
Working out alone in the gym can be the cause of many gym fears, especially if you feel like you’re doing everything wrong. One of the most important parts about being a gym instructor is ensuring clients that you are there to support them during their visits to the gym which is why we address everything there is to know about this career in our gym instructor courses.
